Go Quickly and Come Back Soon

(Translated by Douglas Shaw)

Most people face death with fear. Actually, death is the beginning of life. When people reach the end of one life, they must follow their karma or their vows to the next life.

Master Cheng Yen often says that it is not only in this lifetime in this world that she will work to purify human hearts. In the next life too, she will come back again to continue to work for the never-ending missions of Tzu Chi. Therefore, when Tzu Chi members are seriously ill, she tells them, "You must make a vow to come back to this world to continue working for the Master and for Tzu Chi. Go quickly and come back soon-the Tzu Chi world needs you."

Therefore, when Tzu Chi people chant the name of Amitabha for the dead, they always remind them: "Go quickly and come back soon."
